2009 tt league story

stephen barrett-course record holder-20mins 35 seconds!!!

hi guys a big thank you to all who took part in the limerick triathlon club time trial series.

101 laps has marked the close of our first Club TT Series.  Lat night saw the largest group out yet since we started a few weeks ago.  With poor weather earlier in the day it was doubtful if many would attend but luckily it cleared up stayed dry and the wind even died down, even though it did remain cooler than other evenings conditions looked good for quick times.  With a lage number of participants, from a variety of clubs (Limerick Tri, West Clare cc Limerick CC, Ennis Tri) at the start line, everybody was given a start time and we got going.  Sean Yelverton would start out the evening and put in a fast lap, beating his previous time by over a full minute to win the Junior category.  In the Female category Andree Walkin put in a solid performance to finish 3rd in her category with Lynne still holding the fastest time there from Week 2.  The Male Vets saw a few new faces out tonight and some good performances but that category seems to have been decided back in Week three with Niall maloney taking a clear victory follwed by Liam Liddy in 2nd and only 10 seconds back in third is Al Le Gear.  The same could not be said  for the Male senior category where interesting things were sure to happen with the group on show.  In this category no previous set times would have held a podium position after tonight. It was clear that the guys would have to claim a few new pb's and they didn't disappoint.  Mike O'Brien managed to shave 16 seconds from his previous best to win this category by a mere 4 seconds over Colm Turner who put in an excellent first time performance with Damian Roche putiing in the required improvement to claim third by holding off Senan O'Dwyer by only 4 seconds.  In the Elite category there was no change in the placings from last week with Stephan Teeling Lynch  Laughingcoming first overall, Alan Buckley second and Mike Storan third. HOWEVER there was an unofficial time posted on the course last night by Stephen Barrett with a lap of an amazing 20:35.  Stephen missed his starting slot last night due to technical difficulties but we hope to see him out again next summer to post an official time on the route. Due to the numbers out last night and the failing evening light we never got a chance to give out prizes but we will get them onto the 1st 2nd and 3rd placings in each category.  Congrats and thanks to all who came out participated, improved and enjoyed the TT series.  Special thanks also to all those who have marshaled over the past six weeks (impossible to run TT without you all) and to Bell Sports and 'The Bike Shop' for providing great prizes.

next season we will be holding 2 series... so plenty of notice :)
